Vicar St. gig on December 6th cancelled

Sorry to say that Monday night’s gig in aid of Console has been cancelled. The weather and other factors mean that this just isn’t the right time for a gig like this. Ed’s very sorry if anyone has been inconvenienced as a result of the decision, and hopes to see some of you in 2011.

If you would like to support Console in another way, you can make a direct donation or attend one of their other fundraising events.

Crowd Pleaser: new tour for 2011

Catch Ed on tour in 2011 across the UK with his new show, Crowd Pleaser.

Tackling subjects as diverse as being a nerd, owning a cat, meeting your heroes, and potentially becoming a dad, Ed’s new show demonstrates just how funny a curmudgeonly man with a keen eye for detail and a sense of fairness can be.

You also won’t want to miss Ed’s support on this tour, the wonderful Irish comedian Karl Spain, whose credits include Karl Spain Wants a Woman, Karl Spain Wants to Rock, and Karl Spain is Willing to Spend a Lot of Time in a Car With Ed Byrne (not a real programme).

Kicking off in Tunbridge Wells on March 2nd, this first section of the tour finishes in Liverpool on May 29th, taking in a host of cities and towns across the UK in between. This promises to be a sparkling tour that you won’t want to miss.

You’ll find all the venues and dates for the first leg of the tour here, along with information on how to buy tickets.

Protest against the papal visit

Ed has added his name to a petition to deny the pope a state visit to Great Britain. You can read the text of the letter here. The pope is due to begin his controversial visit tomorrow.

Ed on The Adventures of Daniel

If you’re in the UK, you can check out some clips of Daniel Sloss’s new show, The Adventures of Daniel, which starts on BBC Three on Monday, August 23rd, at 9.30pm and features appearances by Ed.

This clip contains STRONG LANGUAGE and MILD PERIL.

September dates added

Have a look at the Live Dates page for news on a couple of festival dates for September, one in England and one in Ireland.

August is a quiet month

Ed is mostly climbing up things this month, so there won’t be much news here. It’ll all get busy again in September though.
